12/6/06 Home-work v.s Studio-work
It seems as if the Universe is conspiring to keep me out of the studio this month. This is an on-going frustration for me that I have been unsuccessful in resolving.
- Broken hot water boiler (dealing with 2 servicemen calls and apt's)
- Artists picking up consigment artwork (this took three weeks)
- Snowstorms requiring 3-5 hours of snow shoveling (per day)
- Computer running insanely slow (takng 30 to 35 minutes to boot up)
- E-mail that takes me all day to complete
- Christmas letters that need writing, address printing and stamping
- Holiday meal planning, cooking and food buying
- Christmas parties that require gifts, appetisers and coordination
- Neighbors who call with "emergencies" needing my help
- Cleaning for Chrismas guests
I try not to be resentful about being the "person who works at home" but as a result of my physical proximity I do find myself doing more than my share of "home-based-work." I would love to know how other couples manage this issue?
I have to keep reminding myself that writer Ann Wilson Schaef says that
"Life is a process.
We are a process.
The Universe is a process."
