9/25/06 A Door Closes/Another Opens

Reading a Book, The Best Year of Your Life, by Debbie Ford and this quote jumped out at me...

"Closure is a doorway from the past to the future."

We cannot create a new extraordinary life on a top of a past that is riddled with incomplete projects, failed relationships, broken agreements and unresolved issues. If we try to move forward without first completing the past, we may as well resign ourselves to the fact that we will continue to create more of the same. (Is this why some people are destined to repeat the same mistake marriage after marriage?)

To create a new future I have been asking myself these questions:

  •  1) Where do I want to go? What is my vision or final destination?
  •  2) What is the specific goal that will move me toward my vision? And by what date do I want it to be complete?
  • 3) What is the exact scope of the project or vision?
  • 4) What are the important milestones along the way?
  • 5) What skills so I already have that will support me in achieving my goal?
  • 6) What skills will I need to develop to get the job done?
  • 7) What assistance or support do I need?
  • 8) How much if my time will be required on a daily or weekly basis?
  • 9) How will I schedule this time on my calendar?
  • 10) What are the "roadblocks" that I need to watch out for?
  • 11) Whom will I hold accountable to keep my word?
  • 12) What are the consequences of not following my plan?
  • 13) What are the rewards for following my plan and reaching my destination?

All very interesting guideposts along to way to creating a NEW VISION for White Oak and my (he) art.
